Lauren Labartino is taking over Tuesday Tasting for The Grape Unknown, a blind tasting of two whites and three reds designed to see what happens when you take the bottle out of the equation and trust your own eyes, nose and taste buds.
Lauren will hand out the same style of tasting grid used by the Court of Master Sommeliers and walk everyone through how the pros blind taste wine. You’ll sniff. You’ll sip. You’ll stare thoughtfully into the middle distance. Then you’ll write down your guesses and find out just how good you actually are at this.
And because public humiliation should always come with incentives, Lauren is bringing a prize for anyone who manages to guess them all.
Lauren has spent the last five years in the wine industry championing family-owned wineries and helping people find wines they actually enjoy drinking. She’s also WSET Level 2 certified, which means she knows considerably more about what’s in your glass than you do and, thankfully, is very nice about it.
Your $31.80 seat includes tax, gratuity and a chef’s selection of cheese, because blind tasting on an empty stomach sounds like a terrible Tuesday.
